Mary is the Graphic Design Specialist for Experience Columbia SC, a non-profit organization with a mission to promote convention, sports and leisure travel to the Columbia region, which ultimately increases the quality of life for the community. Having grown up in Lexington and Columbia, she is a big supporter of the midlands’ prosperity and is fortunate that she is able to fulfill that passion in her role at ECSC.
Since she joined the marketing team in 2013, she has been a part of the creation and strategy behind numerous marketing campaigns and brand initiatives, some of which include a Nascar driver partnership, building a new downtown visitors’ center, a brand refresh, city wayfinding signage, an online store stocked with Columbia SC merch, etc.. With any project, she always brings a keen design eye for maintaining brand standards, while being flexible to stay on top of marketing and design trends.
Mary has freelanced since 2002 and later acquired a formal design education when she gained acceptance into the design program at UofSC through a highly competitive and selective Portfolio Review process. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration on Graphic Design and a minor in Art History in 2012. She has been a member of AAF since 2013. A member of AIGA since 2007, serving on the AIGA state board for two years, as Director of Communications.
Mary and her husband, Ben stay busy raising their two-year-old daughter, as well as continually renovating their 1973 home in Lexington. The newest home project is a Star Wars-themed nursery for their son, due in March 2021.
