It has been said of volunteer organizations, as well as life, that you only get back what you put into it. AAF Midlands is completely supported by volunteers. We rely on the many talents and resources of our membership. It’s a win-win. Our committees provide leadership opportunities and a chance to learn new skills, while meeting and sharing ideas with other professionals in related fields.

We’re not asking for a lot of time, just a commitment to the overall mission of AAF whether it be through planning events or lending a helping hand with the American Advertising Awards, driving membership or communicating our message.

American Advertising Awards

Formerly known as the ADDYs…same great awards, just a new name! This committee runs the local American Advertising Awards Competition recognizing outstanding achievement in advertising. This committee conducts the competition (including promotion and judging) as well as the Gala and awards ceremony.

The programs committee is responsible for developing a series of meaningful and entertaining programs that address the diverse needs of our members. They coordinate all programming details including arranging speakers and activities for the club’s monthly meetings, meeting notices, location, reservations, event publicity, ticket collections, audio/visual, and attendance record maintenance with the assistance of the Membership Chair.

This committee is all about getting people interested in AAF Midlands and keeping a pulse on the best interest of our members. Responsibilities include organizing membership drives, recruiting and motivating new members. They constantly analyze and promote the benefits of membership to all individuals involved in, or interested in, the advertising industry. Committee members also act as greeters at events, make calls to new and prospective members and develop and distribute an annual survey to new, existing, lapsed and resigning club members.

Public Service

Each year, AAF Midlands selects a nonprofit organization in our community and assists them with their marketing and advertising needs. Committee members work hand-in-hand with the staff of the organization to help develop a strategy and oversee the tactical execution of a campaign to advance their cause. Areas in which we can assist include collateral package design (including logos), print ads, broadcast, Web presence, and public relations elements. Typically, volunteers donate all creative and account service expertise and the nonprofit is responsible for hard costs such as printing, media placement, and production costs. Whenever possible AAF Midlands will solicit reduced rates or pro-bono services for hard costs. However, these services can not be guaranteed and the nonprofit should anticipate some expense.

These committee members work with various committees to promote AAF Midlands and club objectives in the media and stay on the lookout for innovative ways to send out key club information. Team members manage the club’s brand — develop collateral pieces, execute & maintain a website, photography at events, maintain photo library, weekly email blasts, Facebook updates… you get the idea.

Government Relations

The government relations committee educates our members on legislation, both favorable and adverse, and from time to time may spearhead proactive and defensive actions. In addition, they promote civic engagement and social responsibility among our members as well as industry self-regulation.

The mosaic committee is responsible for increasing interest in our industry among multicultural audiences. Responsibilities include making presentations at local area high schools, soliciting applications for a two-week summer internship, award that internship, secure a hosting company and gaining recognition for the student’s achievement.

The sponsorship committee is the reason we can have awesome events – because they find us our amazing sponsors! This committee is perfect for people who are in sales, like getting what they want or just know a lot of people who owe them favors.
