February is turning into a big month for AAF of the Midlands, with a great monthly luncheon and many other club initiatives coming together.
First, I want to highlight is the Public Service program and applications. Our club helpsone non-profit reach their communications goals each year. Applications may be found on our website and are due by February, 5, 2010. Please contact Skot Garrick at
sgarrick@sc.rr.com with any questions.
Secondly,we're conducting anew event in conjunction with our diversity initiative. This program supports summer advertising internships for minority students. This year we will be holding a kick-off event called Mad About Madison Avenue in which minority high school junior and seniors will learn about different aspects of advertising directly from professionals in the field.
This one-day event is scheduled for Saturday, February 27 from 10 am to 1:30 pm at the USC School of Mass Communications. Students will rotate through mini-seminars by professional speakers and leave with our summer internship packet, which includes information on internship scholarships.
Please call Douglas Broadwater at (803)754-7525 with any questions or to register a student. (Registration will be limited.)
